The Evesham Lantern Parade, 26 November 2026

A Winter Welcome: join your community for Evesham's Lantern Parade and Tree of Light illumination.

This November, Evesham comes together. Not just for the Tree of Light and Lantern Parade,
but to bring some warmth and connection to the darkest month.

On Thursday 26th November arrive at Market Square between 6:00 and 6:15 pm. At 6.15, the Lantern Parade starts in Market Square Evesham and moves through the Church yard and the illuminated paths of Abbey Park. Around 6.45 the parade joins the Tree of Light switch-on event on Workman bridge with the count down and switch-on around 7.00 pm. It is an evening for everyone - families, neighbours, young and old, long-time residents and newcomers alike.

The event is a great example of local organisations working side by side. The Battle of Evesham and the Rotary Club have joined forces to create an evening of cheer that belongs to the town. Over twenty-four people have taken part in lantern-making workshops already, with more opportunities possibly planned later in the year. Those workshops were creative and fun:

“Great teamwork, new skills, worthwhile for Evesham”

“Creative fun, lovely hosts, improving our local light festival”

Everyone is welcome to join the parade, with or without a lantern. Every lantern or light, however simple, adds to the beauty of the spectacle.  Instructions are on this website. The examples range from simple but effective to more elaborate. To keep it safe, no flames.

Some of the participants will add a medieval flavour to the parade but everybody can dress up any way they want. Dressing up is fun but not a requirement. The parade will be led by Simon De Montford and his friends and potentially his enemies!

Walking together as darkness falls, surrounded by glowing lanterns and soft lantern light, with music in the air and the illuminated and magical nighttime park around you are a very special experience. A simple reminder of how lucky we are to live in a strong community.

This is about the regeneration of the great spirit of Evesham. When people gather and share experiences the town grows stronger.

So, whether you are two or ninety-two, carrying a homemade lantern or just walking with us. We look forward to seeing you there.

Please remember, battery lights only.
